Today is a big day for one of my favourite stores, Lady Lucy Rules Ok, because it is seven years since they opened for business! To celebrate, they have released a special limited edition heart logo necklace, complete with a charm in the shape of their famous lipstick lightning bolt! It is super cute so try and snap one up while you can! Unfortunately, I am trying to save at the moment so I cannot justify one for myself, but I hope some of you are able to get one and enjoy it as much as I’m sure I would!
Also, the new collection will be launching soon so all of their current stock is on sale! There are some really gorgeous brooches, pins, necklaces and more so make sure you check them all out at their bargain prices. You can also get a Lucky Dip bag for £10 which contains 5 surprise items. The lucky dip bags are GREAT! I have had one before and everything I got in it was brilliant. As soon as the new collection launches, you can sure I’ll be writing about it!
Sorry for the lack of posts this week. I had two Uni assignments due in which took up all of my time. Yuck. However, I am back today and ready to tell you about some nautical themed dresses available to buy on the highstreet. I know its still freezing and hardly the time to want to be wearing a pretty striped spring/summer dress, but we can dream right? Well here are some of the ones I have been dreaming about anyway. Lets hope the weather picks up soon so they can be worn!
On the left is a jersey tunic dress from Joules. I actually bought this yesterday so of course it had to be included. One thing to be wary about with Joules clothing, is I often find their stuff comes up quite small. I bought this dress a size up than I normally wear. While it did look nice in my normal size, it was more fitted which I think would have been fine if I was only going to wear it as a top but as I’m intending to wear it as a dress I went a size up to get a loser fit. It was also slightly shorter in the smaller size. The dress on the left is from Miss Selfridge and is really cute. I have seen it in store a few times and have been very tempted to buy it but haven’t yet. Maybe in the sale if I’m lucky! But it really is cute!
On the left is a dress from River Island. I really like the bow detail on the one shoulder, but I am not too keen on dresses with only one sleeve etc. I’ll look out for it in store though to see what its like in real life. Lastly, the dress on the right is from BooHoo. Not much to say about it apart from its cute, it fits the nautical stripe theme, and its pretty cheap too! (Though I have never bought anything from them before so no idea if cheap price means cheap quality. Hope not!)
Emma Watson’s collection from People Tree has been launched and I wanted to do a post on it because, well, I think its lovely! Emma, as you all should know unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for years, is the young actress who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films. She has teamed up with People Tree to create a collection of clothing for young people that is made from organic materials and in adherence with fair trade principles. That means that the people who make the clothes are getting paid a good wage for it.
there are items for boys and girls (men and women ) but of course, I am going to look at the girls stuff here. There was a lovely article in the Mail on Sunday’s You magazine about the collection featuring some lovely photos which I will use below to talk about the items I like the most.
In the image above (click to see it bigger) Emma is wearing the Loretto Button Dress. It comes in three colours; light grey, blue and red, but I think the light grey that Emma is wearing is the nicest. The only possible problem I can foresee with the dress is that it seems quite short so that might be something to be mindful of if you are a little conscious of showing your legs!
In the image above, Emma is wearing my favourite item from the collection which is the Do Not Panic Scoop Dress. I have been looking around for a nice t-shirt dress and this one is really nice so I think it might just need to be ordered! The Skinny Knit Scarf she is wearing is nice too but I can live without that.
Other items from the collection that are also worth a mention include the Daisy Chain Dress (though I prefer things with sleeves), the Kelly Contrast Trim Caridgan, and the Silver Sweetie Wrapper Jewellery (although annoyingly you have to buy it in and earrings and necklace set which is annoying and a waste for people like myself who don’t wear earrings).
I am a bit of a movie geek so every now and then I am going to do a post telling you about some great movies that you need to watch. I’ve got three for you today. One old, one recent, and one current release. I’ll do them in order of their release dates.
First up is In the Heat of the Night (1967). I watched this recently because I had to do a seminar at University on Sidney Poitier for one of my assessments and he stars in it. Brilliant film with fantastic performances by its actors, especially Sidney and Rod Steiger. There are a couple of clips from the movie on my Youtube account which I made to use in the seminar. You can watch the first one below, but beware as it will contain major spoilers!
Next is one of my most favourite films ever; Tell No One (2006). It is a French film based on the book of the same name by Harlan Coben. The book was set in America but its been adapted for the film to fit in France. Honestly. I can’t tell you how much I love this film. I have seen it so many times and still I could watch it more than once a day and not get sick of it. Its just brilliant. The ending is one of the most emotional scenes I have seen in a movie. Its just beautiful. I can’t really say anymore other than that you MUST see it. An American version is being made which I will see, but I’ll be surprised if it can match up to this. You can watch the trailer below:
Finally, we have the film everyone’s talking about at the moment; Avatar (2009). I know people are probably sick of being told how great it is but it really is terrific. I won’t say its the best film ever (Tell No One takes that crown for me!) but it is pretty high on the list. I have seen it in 3D and 2D and it was amazing in both. If you can fork out the extra cash to see it in 3D, you should because it is a little bit more special but 2D works just as well. I think what I liked best about this film is just the world that James Cameron has created in Pandora. Its just mesmerizing. However, although the special effects are incredible, they are not what the film is all about. There is a great story to match. Its been in cinemas for a long time now and while they will probably milk it out a bit longer, you’re probably running out of time to see it and you really should see it on a big screen first (my best friend saw it at the Imax which I am insanely envious of!). Click the picture below to watch a clip from the movie on Youtube (embedding is disabled for it):
Everything I listed on Ebay last week has now sold so thank you to any visitors from here if you bought any, hope you enjoy your items! In actual fact though, I lied then. One item hasn’t sold yet. It is ending in about 2 hours and it is this stunning pair of Irregular Choice shoes below!! They are gorgeous and I am sad to part with them but I have finally admitted that they don’t fit and so they are up for sale. Click the pic to get to the auction:
I have added a few more items so far today including a really gorgeous fox print top/blouse by Once Upon a Time for Topshop; and a paisley print silky feel top/blouse from Next (both pictured below). I am just waiting for my camera batteries to finish charging and then over the rest of today and tomorrow, I will be adding lots more stuff including some bags, jewellery (including some handmade stuff!), and more clothes including some nice pinstripe shorts from Whistles and a cute anchor print hoodie! Keep checking my Ebay page for new listings!
A bunch of new stuff has been added at the Uniqlo website and all of it is lovely. I nearly went spend crazy on there as feeling a bit depressed because have had potentially bad news regarding my poor teeth/mouth, but I managed to resist. For now. But anyway. Their collaboration pieces with Crystal Ball are particularly cute. Below are some of the things I like.
First is the all over dog face print in black, which I prefer to the white. Next up is a pink print t-shirt by Crystal Ball (also available in grey) which I really like because it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. The pink necklace print t-shirt is also available in black but the pink is just a bit sweeter
These are just a handful of the new items they have available so make sure you check them out. I really do like the new t-shirts with the longer length. They’ll look nice with leggings or skinnies. They are all so nice though so the trouble is deciding which to buy! Though they are pretty reasonable at £12.99 each (apart from the hoodie which is £19.99).
