Movies: Part One

I am a bit of a movie geek so every now and then I am going to do a post telling you about some great movies that you need to watch. I’ve got three for you today. One old, one recent, and one current release. I’ll do them in order of their release dates.

First up is In the Heat of the Night (1967). I watched this recently because I had to do a seminar at University on Sidney Poitier for one of my assessments and he stars in it. Brilliant film with fantastic performances by its actors, especially Sidney and Rod Steiger. There are a couple of clips from the movie on my Youtube account which I made to use in the seminar. You can watch the first one below, but beware as it will contain major spoilers!

Next is one of my most favourite films ever; Tell No One (2006). It is a French film based on the book of the same name by Harlan Coben. The book was set in America but its been adapted for the film to fit in France. Honestly. I can’t tell you how much I love this film. I have seen it so many times and still I could watch it more than once a day and not get sick of it. Its just brilliant. The ending is one of the most emotional scenes I have seen in a movie. Its just beautiful. I can’t really say anymore other than that you MUST see it. An American version is being made which I will see, but I’ll be surprised if it can match up to this. You can watch the trailer below:

Finally, we have the film everyone’s talking about at the moment; Avatar (2009). I know people are probably sick of being told how great it is but it really is terrific. I won’t say its the best film ever (Tell No One takes that crown for me!) but it is pretty high on the list. I have seen it in 3D and 2D and it was amazing in both. If you can fork out the extra cash to see it in 3D, you should because it is a little bit more special but 2D works just as well. I think what I liked best about this film is just the world that James Cameron has created in Pandora. Its just mesmerizing. However, although the special effects are incredible, they are not what the film is all about. There is a great story to match. Its been in cinemas for a long time now and while they will probably milk it out a bit longer, you’re probably running out of time to see it and you really should see it on a big screen first (my best friend saw it at the Imax which I am insanely envious of!). Click the picture below to watch a clip from the movie on Youtube (embedding is disabled for it):

More Ebay Offerings!

Everything I listed on Ebay last week has now sold so thank you to any visitors from here if you bought any, hope you enjoy your items! In actual fact though, I lied then. One item hasn’t sold yet. It is ending in about 2 hours and it is this stunning pair of Irregular Choice shoes below!! They are gorgeous and I am sad to part with them but I have finally admitted that they don’t fit and so they are up for sale. Click the pic to get to the auction:

I have added a few more items so far today including a really gorgeous fox print top/blouse by Once Upon a Time for Topshop; and a paisley print silky feel top/blouse from Next (both pictured below). I am just waiting for my camera batteries to finish charging and then over the rest of today and tomorrow, I will be adding lots more stuff including some bags, jewellery (including some handmade stuff!), and more clothes including some nice pinstripe shorts from Whistles and a cute anchor print hoodie! Keep checking my Ebay page for new listings!

New at Uniqlo

A bunch of new stuff has been added at the Uniqlo website and all of it is lovely. I nearly went spend crazy on there as feeling a bit depressed because have had potentially bad news regarding my poor teeth/mouth, but I managed to resist. For now. But anyway. Their collaboration pieces with Crystal Ball are particularly cute. Below are some of the things I like.

First is a hoodie with a ring print by Mintdesigns. There are a couple of other designs but this one is my fave. Next is a t-shirt with graphic print by Crystal Ball; and a stripe t-shirt with dog face print by Crystal Ball. All of these except the graphic print come in more than one colour. Some more below:

First is the all over dog face print in black, which I prefer to the white. Next up is a pink print t-shirt by Crystal Ball (also available in grey) which I really like because it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. The pink necklace print t-shirt is also available in black but the pink is just a bit sweeter :)

These are just a handful of the new items they have available so make sure you check them out. I really do like the new t-shirts with the longer length. They’ll look nice with leggings or skinnies. They are all so nice though so the trouble is deciding which to buy! Though they are pretty reasonable at £12.99 each (apart from the hoodie which is £19.99).

Miss Capucine

Get ready for a cuteness overload!.. In the video below is the adorable Capucine; a little 4-year-old girl from France who tells stories. She makes them up as she goes along and her imagination is really quite remarkable! She really is the cutest little thing you’ve ever seen and her stories are pretty good too :)

With the help of her mum, some of Capucine’s drawings and favourite quotes from her stories have been put onto t-shirts, badges and magnets which can be bought to raise money for Edurelief which will help raise money for children in Mongolia to have a better education. Read more and find the links to buy the stuff at Capucine’s Library.

Look Tuesday

There wasn’t a huge deal that I particularly liked in the magazine today, and even from the stuff I have picked out below, nothing particularly leapt out at me. I did see some lovely things out in the shops today including this dress from Miss Selfridge. It looks really lovely in real life! Speaking of seeing things in real life, last week on Look Tuesday, I picked out a floral print dress from H&M. I saw that in store this week but in pink and its very nice. (Also in the issue last week there was a khaki dress from H&M. I didn’t mention it in my post but I saw it in store. Yuck. That’s all that needs to be said).

As usual, the photos are appalling but thats so you’ll buy the magazine yourself. I don’t want to be told off for displaying the whole thing properly so the pictures have to be bad, sorry! In the pic below, I really like the clutch and the pink dress from French Connection. They are both pretty expensive really but their stuff is always really well made and usually a nice fit. Neither are available on the website yet but should be soon I think. You can see a preview of the other dress in pink on their website. Very pretty.

In the image on the left below, I really like the floral dress and horse t-shirt from H&M. I didn’t see them in store a few days ago so hopefully they’ll be there next time I go in so I can get a good look at them. A lot of the time, H&M disappoints me with their stuff in real life because I don’t always think the quality is that great. In the image on the right below, there are some lovely shoes! I love the Faith shoes and I am very pleased because I got a very similar pair in the New Look sale a few days ago for only £5. Bargain! The Marks & Spencer pair are lovely and of course, the most expensive on the page by French Sole are very gorgeous too.

Finally, we have something that is not clothing or shoes; but a home accessory. In the image below they feature a gorgeous pink candelabra decorated with flowers and birds from Berry Red. It really is lovely. If I had my own place I would definitely be buying it but I don’t really have a need for a candelabra in my bedroom. There is also 15% off at their site for Look readers :)

Ma’s Creations :)

Sorry I haven’t had time to post this weekend. I have been busy preparing a seminar I have to do tomorrow at University. In case you are interested, it is about the actor Sidney Poitier. It should be interesting as I can barely speak at the moment (been having teeth troubles for 8 months and very bad at the moment).

Anyway. I wanted to make sure I posted something as I probably won’t have time tomorrow either so I am going to tell you about one of my most favourite websites, Pink Marshmallow. It is the personal graphics site of my friend Marcela. If you are looking for an icon to use on a forum, or for a cute wallpaper for your computer desktop, Pink Marshmallow is the place to go. Ma seriously makes the cutest graphics so I just had to tell you about her!

She most recently added some icons from the movie Avatar (which is amazing by the way!) so below are a few of my faves, as well as some of my faves that she has done of Ddung dolls which are my newest obsession!

With regards to her desktop wallpapers, I particularly love the ones from Wall-E and Lost, but the one I am using on my laptop at the moment and is totally adorable, is this one below from Alice in Wonderland (go to Pink Marshmallow to see it bigger and get it for yourself!).
