Outfit Inspiration: Wild Things!

This week’s outfit inspiration is on the theme of “Wild Things“. I was putting away some clothes today and came across one of my favourite t-shirts which features an illustration from Maurice Sendak’s book Where the Wild Things Are; and felt the urge to create an outfit inspired by the wild things featured in his wonderful story. The movie of the book came out a little while ago too which I saw at the cinema. Fantastic film but it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea (in fact, my parents saw it with me and hated it! Well, they just didn’t get it). So anyway, below is my outfit inspired by Wild Things. The only thing missing is my pair of black mittens which would look great. I tried to find a substitute pair but couldn’t find any that looked right and didn’t have a picture of mine so had to leave them off but trust me, they are perfect for this.

An Irregular Choice?

An Irregular Choice? Perhaps. But cute? Definitely!!! Today I was looking on the Irregular Choice website to see if anything new had been added to their sale (which alas, there has not!), and I noticed that there were a few new things on the site that I thought I would share with you. First we have some new accessories:

They have quite a few new earrings which are super cute (but no good to me as I don’t wear them) as well as some scrummy looking keyrings. The Pink Whippy Ice-Cream looks particularly delicious! The Patty Clutch bag is really nice with the big red heart and it comes in black as well as blue. I’m not entirely sure what the purpose of the Leg Spatz are but I like them anyway. The little Elephant purse is adorable and you can get the same pattern on a handbag too (shown on the image above but with a cat print). The Miaow Shopper Bag and Robbot Shopper have been available for a while but I wanted to include them because they are cute :) Next up are some new shoes:

I am a bit obsessive about shoes, especially weird ones, and was very, very excited by the Kill Nemesis boots (top left), which come in two colour-ways. Also really love the Electrokill trainers (bottom right) which come in three different colour options. Also shown are the Driving Bananas with Cowboy and Indian print. I have these but with the Owl print and they are my most favourite shoes ever. They even have a velvet lining! I am waiting for them to come in the sale so I can get another style. The Frog Princess shoes are in the sale and come in four different colour options. I love them but they might be a bit too wacky (even for me!) to wear. The same goes for the Strawbalicious shoes, and although I like the Disco Heaven’s; I think they would be a bit high for me (I am rubbish at walking in heels. My only pair are really low ones from the kids section in New Look!!). The Galactic Fire trainers come in four different colours, but I prefer the Electrokills :)

Outfit Inspiration: Hamburglar

At least once a week I will try and post an outfit idea, based on a particular theme or character etc. This may seem like a pretty weird choice for the first one but this outfit is inspired by the McDonald’s Hamburglar! Younger readers may not know of the infamous Hamburglar but back in the 80’s/early 90’s, McDonald’s had their own series of in-house characters including the Hamburglar (and of course the creepy Ronald McDonald). I am not a McDonald’s eater (apart from maybe once a year at the very most) so I’m not sure why this idea appealed to me so much. I think its because I’m loving stripes a lot at the moment and I was thinking of stripey characters and the Hamburglar seemed the best. If it were October, I would so be dressing as him for Halloween :)

Anyway, check the image below for my Hamburglar inspired outfit idea using items available from high street shops. I tried looking for a nice hamburger brooch or something but had no luck so if you know of one, please tell me!

Nasty Nip! (and some shoes)

Oh my god the title of this post is really quite distasteful but I’m afraid it had to be done. Read on for an explanation…

I was looking on ASOS earlier and these caught my eye. Basically, they are stickers that you stick over your nipples so that they don’t show through your bra/clothes :) Guys won’t understand the annoyingness of such a thing happening but it is very annoying and difficult to avoid unless you always wear padded bras. I don’t always wear padded bras because, *ahem*, I am quite well endowed in the chest area and padded bras make them look even bigger which I hate, so these stickers sound like a damn good idea to me. The post title is stolen from a rather cool website I used to visit (which is now sadly closed) and seemed very appropriate, if a little distasteful as mentioned before. There are four different designs to choose from; hearts, two different star patterns, and butterflies (which I would deffinately not use as I have a phobia of them) and are £12 (a little pricey) for a pack of two. The hearts are pictured below:

I also wanted to mention today, my second top tip. Something I always do when looking for shoes (and when I am not really supposed to be but do anyway) is check out the kids section in whatever shop I am in if they have one. I take a size 6 (Euro 39) and most kids ranges go up to a 6, plus they are cheaper and quite often cuter than those offered in adult sections. I come armed with what I think is a great example. The little beauties below are available from George at Asda for a mere £8 (£7.50 for smaller sizes). They may look a little garish in the photo but they look way better in real life and are very comfy. However, bizarrely their kids shoes do come up big sometimes so you may want to try a smaller size. I don’t own this pair (yet!) but I did get a rather fabulous pair of glittery animal print hi-tops with pink edging from them a few weeks ago in the sale for £3 so you must ALWAYS check the kids sections. I even got a very nice pair of brown boots in the boys section in the M&S sale a couple of weeks ago for £8 and they are lovely (my mum hates them though). You can buy the shoes below in store or online.
